SFDP: The Validator seal of quality

Solana’s rapid growth didn’t happen by accident. Behind the network’s speed and decentralization is a global network of validators — and the Solana Foundation Delegation Program (SFDP) has played a key role in shaping that validator set.

The SFDP is a long-standing initiative by the Solana Foundation to identify, support, and reward high-quality, trustworthy validators. But it’s not just about performance — it’s also about accountability.

Unlike random validators that can pop up on mainnet overnight, SFDP validators go through a structured onboarding process. Most participants are accepted only after running a node in testnet for at least a year, demonstrating consistency, reliability, and technical skill.

Once accepted, these validators signed contracts with the Foundation, completed full KYC verification, and continue to go through periodic re-KYC checks. In some cases, SFDP conducts video interviews to ensure that operators remain competent, committed, and aligned with Solana’s values.

In short — if a app validator is Approved by SFDP, there’s a real, verified person behind that node, and they’ve proven their reliability over time.

What About Rejected and Retired Validators?

More recently, the Foundation introduced two additional statuses:

🟥 Rejected — These validators have been removed from the program, usually due to violations of Foundation guidelines or harmful behavior to the network (e.g. malicious MEV activity, failure to upgrade on time, etc.)

🟨 Retired — Validators that haven’t broken the rules, but also haven’t shown long-term commitment, growth, or performance. The Foundation chose to end their support, reallocating stake to more active operators.

Even if a validator still runs in mainnet, being Rejected or Retired by SFDP is an important signal — especially when you’re trusting them with your stake.

You can view each validator’s status and epoch-by-epoch performance directly on the official SFDP Participant Statuses https://solana.org/validators-search

Why It Matters to You as a Staker

Validators that are SFDP-approved aren’t just technically competent — they’re trusted. They’ve been held to higher standards, monitored closely, and onboarded with full transparency.
For stakers, the SFDP badge isn’t just symbolic — it’s proof of trustworthiness.

Vladika is proudly SFDP-approved.

We’ve earned our reputation through years of consistent testnet and mainnet operation, and we keep delivering value with 0% commission, full MEV rewards to stakers, and complete transparency.
